Essential Information about Horse Drawn Carriages for Hire

Travelling Distance & Route

We recommend a total distance of 5 to 7 miles for the horse and carriage to travel for weddings, proms, summer balls and similar events. This can take approximately 45 minutes depending on the route, so please bear this in mind.

The proposed route that the horse and carriage will take is important and we will plan the route with you to make sure the day goes as smoothly as possible.

For other less formal and more local events, such as picnics & tours, fetes, etc, the horses can remain in harness for two or three hours, providing that they get enough refreshment and recuperation stops.

Carriage Preparation

Once we arrive, we will need to have space available where we can park and prepare for the day’s event. This will include parking for the lorry and set up for the horse and carriage (roughly 7/8 car lengths of space).  If you live in a small residential area we always have the option of finding somewhere fairly local to prepare.

We will try our utmost to fulfil your plans for your special day, but we may find it necessary to change the horses or the carriage on the day.

Health & Safety

The safety of our customers is essential for the day’s event and we wish you to have a memorable and fun time whilst travelling with us.  You will need to bear in mind a few safety tips whilst in and around the horse and carriage: -

  • Please remain seated whilst the carriage is in motion.
  • You will be informed by one of our team when to get on or off the carriage.
  • Do not approach the horse and carriage from the rear. The horses wear blinkers and cannot see to the side or the rear.
  • No smoking in the carriage or around the horses.
  • Photographs can be taken but please be careful when using flash photography.
  • Please refrain from making any sudden noises when near to the horses.
  • We reserve the right to change the route or waiting position, if we believe that people or animals may be at risk.

Celebration Carriages is fully insured, including public liability.

Bookings & Cancellations
